This chair has been tested and functions as it should. The batteries have
    been
    tested and hold a charge.
The Rival rear-wheel drive power chair features innovative design that provides exceptional outdoor performance and handling while delivering outstanding tight space maneuverability. The Rival accepts a complete range of rehab seating and electronics options.
    Weight Capacity:
    300 lbs
    Maximum Speed:
    Up to 6 mph
    Turning Radius:
    35.75" without front foot riggings
    Seat:
can be fitted with various seats according to therapist's prescription
The drive wheels are in the rear of the chair; this makes for good traction even when in a non-paved area such as a normally groomed yard.
The thick seat cushion is a J2 Deep Contour.
The CUSHION measures 18" wide (left to right) and 16" deep (front to back).
The cushion BACK measures 22" tall (bottom to top) and 18" wide (left to right).
See pics at bottom of this page showing measurements.
The black box shown above is the controller which is hooked to the joystick and controls functions such as speed, tilt and screen displays. It can be upgraded by a technician with new software if the new user adds features which require control such as power lift etc.
The rear panel with two red reflectors removes easily revealing a slide out tray which holds the two batteries. This approach is much better than the newer model chairs which use a front tray (which does NOT slide out).
This chair was manufactured to the buyer's specifications in July, 2013 and was delivered to its owner in October, 2013.
The chair was used until 2018; new batteries were installed sometime between 2016 and 2018.
The newer batteries have been maintained from 2018 to the current date with regular charging as this chair was a back-up for a 2
    nd
chair the owner acquired in 2018.
If you are new to power wheelchairs you should know that the two motors which drive the chair forward or back can be "in gear" (D for drive) the lower position, or in "free wheel" (N for neutral) in the upper position.
The free wheel position is used when the batteries are either dis-charged or when an attendant feels it would be wiser to simply "push" the chair into a desired position.
The motor 'drive' or "neutral" lever is shown above on the LEFT (motor 1) in the picture above.
There are 4 transport tiedown loops (as shown above) on the four corners of the chair.
The chair logged 999 miles during the 5 years it was used for an average of 200 miles a year or less than 17 miles per month.
The tires are in good condition with good tread on the rear, power driven wheels.
    T
he two front wheels show more wear than the drive wheels because they are often in sideways mode when turns are made; the rear wheels do not experience that kind of wear as they are always pointed forward.
The chair comes with some features which may or may not be suitable for the new owner; if those features are not needed they can be easily removed. All these power chairs are very customizable to an owner’s specific needs
    .
The two padded side panels on either side of the seat cushion (shown above and below) could be removed if not needed and would give more left to right space in the seating area.
The arms can rotate up or back into fixed down position as shown above. Normally that is used to assist entry and exit from the chair. As currently fitted the side panels shown reduce that easy entry; those panels can be removed if not needed.
The footrests are basic metal with a fabric strap at the rear of each rest so each foot would not slide backwards; additional footrest pads, etc are available from retailers.
Each of the two footrests can be moved aside to assist in easier entry/exit from the chair.
The thick seat cushion is a J2 Deep Contour.
The cushion measures 20" wide (left to right) and 17" deep front to back.

The chair has a q-logic 2 joystick to control the tilt function and choices of 4 speeds depending on in-house or outdoor needs. (see screen pictures above and below).
By pushing the green striped menu button shown above you get to the menu choices as shown above. Pushing the joystick to the right takes you down one level to the next menu.
The menu choices above are followed in some pictures below. The menu process is easy to learn and use.
The beep commands are very useful and are pretty good as set but you can change them if you wish.
The reset feature above only resets the individual trip mileage; the main odometer mileage can NOT be changed and currently shows 995 miles of use during the 5 years the chair was used. That's about 200 miles a year or less than 17 miles per month used.
Trip meter and odometer readings are shown above.
The buttons above allow for menu selection and other functions.
There are 4 available speeds which are contained in the P1 through P4 profiles.
In addition to those 4 settings, the knob on the right side of the joystick console allows for increasing or decreasing speed within those profiles.

This chair’s advanced feature is the full tilt capability (see pictures below). The chair does
    NOT
have power lift, power recline or power footrests. Those features could be added by qualified technicians.
The tilt feature can be varied over a wide range from full upright to full tilt as shown above and below. The picture above shows a very slight tilt and the next two pictures below show the full tilt.

The chair comes with a full waist seat belt as shown above.
