The most groundbreaking technology featuring on the new EW-WU111 is a new wireless Bluetooth connection to Shimano's E-TUBE program, which is the system Shimano uses to set up and control the Di2 shifting behaviour.
Through Bluetooth technology riders or mechanics can wirelessly communicate with the EW-WU101 wireless data transmitter unit via a computer, tablet or a smart phone.
The lithium-ion battery BT-DN110 can be mounted internal or external. The internal assembly takes place in the head tube or in the seat post. For external mounting the SM-BTC1 bracket is required.
Shimano introduced the Di2 Wireless Unit SM-EWW01 (previous version of the EW-WU101) featuring the new Shimano D-Fly Data Management system. This wireless component added another dimension to the Di2 experience by wirelessly connecting riders to their Di2 data through a cycling computer.
